What are the most common mistakes we make when repairing a bathroom and how to avoid them?

Poor quality waterproofing
Waterproofing is a process in which the walls and floor are treated, before laying the cladding and flooring, with special products that will protect them from moisture penetration. Quality waterproofing is extremely important to have a cozy and clean bathroom for a long time. It will protect both the bathroom and the adjacent rooms. Skipping this stage of the repair will lead to increased humidity, the formation of mold and mildew, an unpleasant odor and the need for a new repair of the bathroom very soon.

You do not pay enough attention to ventilation
Another problem that can lead to the formation of mold and odor. The fan is mandatory even if there is a window in the bathroom. In order to achieve optimal air exchange and good ventilation of the room, place the fan at the farthest point from the place for fresh air (door, window).

The fan must be in accordance with the area of the bathroom. It is mounted on the ceiling or high up on the wall, as all vapors are directed there.

Inadequate sanitary equipment
Measure the area well and make a sketch of the bathroom before buying the sanitary equipment. There are sinks and toilet bowls of various sizes, including very compact for very small bathrooms. Think carefully about how to place them so that their use is as comfortable as possible. A built-in cistern and a hanging toilet bowl are convenient for the small bathroom.

Signs of coronavirus infection
Improper slope of the pipes
Improper or insufficient inclination can lead to an unpleasant odor from the toilet bowl or shower, if the water does not drain well. In order not to collect water on the floor after bathing, the slope of the pipe should be 3 cm per linear meter, with a diameter of 40-50 mm. i.e. the farther the shower is from the sewer, the greater the slope should be.

Closing the pipes
In the event of an accident or damage to the gutters, it is important to have quick and easy access to them without having to damage the bathroom. Hide the pipes behind decorative partitions, which can be easily dismantled if necessary.

Where do we go wrong when furnishing the bathroom?
Lack of lighting around the mirror
When planning the lighting in the bathroom, we sometimes neglect the mirror, and we should not. A discrete lamp above it would be very useful and practical.

Insufficient storage space
No matter how small the bathroom, we must provide storage space for all cosmetics, personal accessories, towels, etc. They must be in an accessible place, not to be visible, not to get wet. A practical solution for a small bathroom is, for example, to place a cabinet with a mirrored door above the sink. So instead of arranging the fixtures on a shelf under the mirror, they will be stored in a cupboard. They will not be visible or wet, and you will be able to store a lot more things.

A cabinet can also be installed under the sink. So he can hide the pipes and water meters, and also collect a certain amount of cosmetics.

Wood materials
The bathroom with wooden flooring, sink or accessories is definitely exotic and beautiful, but these materials are not suitable for use in every bathroom. Although there are types of wood that can withstand wetting and are specially treated, it is best to refrain from wood decor in the bathroom if it is small or too damp. First, quality wood, which is really suitable for damp rooms, is quite expensive. Second, even it is best used in large bathrooms, where the wet part is separated from the rest and another material is chosen for the shower area. In addition, it is highly desirable to have a window and constant ventilation in the bathroom, as well as underfloor heating to dry quickly. If your bathroom is small and poorly ventilated, then wood is not for you.

Poor quality materials
With cheap materials, the price is usually at the expense of quality, with a few exceptions and if it is not a specific promotion. In the bathroom, materials and accessories are exposed to severe stress and high humidity. If they are not of good quality, they can quickly sweep, rust, crack, start to peel, etc. this will spoil not only the vision of the bathroom, but also the healthy microclimate in it.

Shower cabin in a small bathroom
Although practical and keeps the rest of the bathroom dry, a shower stall is not always the best solution for a miniature bathroom. It can make her look even narrower and even claustrophobia. Better choose a curtain or screen.
